All India Radio – “Galaxy of Light” (video) (premiere)

Australia’s Martin Kennedy returns with a new album, The Slow Light, the tenth platter from his downtempo project All India Radio this April. Kennedy is a restless musical soul and prodigious creator, having also worked many times with the Church’s Steve Kilbey as the duo Kennedy and Kilbey. Kennedy has an experimental streak that sees him changing up the line-up of All India Radio regularly as he pursues different creative ideas, nearly all of them absolutely cinematic in scope. All India Radio albums feel like an amazing journey of the mind. For the new album’s first single and video, Kennedy teamed up with his adolescent daughter who provides vocals to the ethereal, spacey track and appears as the astronaut in the beautifully produced video.

Kennedy says that “‘Galaxy of Light’ is one of my favourite videos, not the least for being my then 12-year-old daughter’s first singing gig and video appearance as the astronaut, but it also reflects my geek-ish love of science fiction — just wait until the last scene! I made the video myself in a very lo-fi animation style with help from 1980s scifi artist Steve Dodd who allowed me to use his beautiful space artwork and Lance Gordon aka the Mad Alchemist, legendary psychedelic light artist since the early 1970s, provided me with some custom psychedelic light work.”

All India Radio’s new album The Slow Light releases 15 April 2016 via Minty Fresh.
