Can the robustness of a language be measured by the amount of frivolity it supports? The three members of this nascent all-female band come from Catalonia, and their ba-ba-ba surfergirl pop is conducted in chiming Catalan. One plays guitar, one plays bass, one plays drums. All of them sing. Their public bio says that they came together after an inspirational Vivian Girls show at San Miguel’s Primavera Sound Festival, and their MySpace page lists the US band as an influence, but their sound is less dense than the latter’s, more summery, diminutive and sweet-tempered, with enough speed and crunch to save it from actual sugar.
