Lecherous Gaze is a hybrid rock band with an ear for the past. Combining the punk rock ethic of the Ramones and Black Flag, the classic rock vibe of AC/DC, and the guitar virtuosity of Exodus, Lecherous Gaze has a lot of potential, as shown on the group’s new self-titled EP. The four songs on this disc show that the group has a great grasp on their various influences. The one downside of this EP is that the group’s sound is somewhat homogenized, never letting any single part of the sound come to the forefront. This gives all four songs a very similar sound, creating very little variety. Nonetheless, the unique sound this group has to offer gives them a big draw. If they can manage a bit more range to their sound on future releases, Lecherous Gaze is going to have a very successful career.
