Library Voices
Dine Alone
2011-10-11
There’s something utterly refreshing about Library Voices. No matter how many times you listen to, say, “If Raymond Carver Were Born In The ‘90s” or “Que Sera Sarah”, it feels, as a twentieth century poet once said, like the first time. The outfit’s literate, dance-inducing songs are informed by ‘60s pop but aren’t wholly married to that time; there are also elements of loud ‘80s rock meant for stadiums (U2), and some that should have been in stadiums (Big Country). On Summer of Lust, it’s not so much the comparisons these Canadians will garner, as the trends they’re likely to start.
