The Moor
Dilettante

Nice ‘n’ dark ‘n’ sexy Los Angeles duo The Moor brings the beautiful on this sliver of a self-titled album. It’s only eight songs and clocks in at just half an hour, but, oh, what a fun half an hour that happens to be. Erica Daking’s voice is as flirty as it is foreboding and as fierce as it is forgiving, something she demonstrates on “Mean Mean Mean” and “You’ll See”. She and partner Josiah Steinbrick are joined by Josh Klinghoffer (PJ Harvey, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Simon Lord (Black Ghosts) across the record. The most enjoyable moments here? The simple pop of “Louise” and sedate but unsettling “Mercury”.
