When in the Jackson Heights area of Queens over the weekend, I had sought out some samosa chaat in the South Asian enclave, but soon found myself hearing about a parade about to begin not far away on Northern Boulevard. Heading up the street, I found the Colombian Day Parade. And some protestors upset over presumably Coca-Cola’s labor practices (Coke had a giant float just for their brand). Plus the same strange person dressed in a neon green dress and the roller-blader / ball spinner that I’ve witnessed at other NYC parades. The parade itself was not too long, but I had time to capture some of the preparations as well as the entirety of the parade.
