FOOD, or Far Out Old Dudes, are a recently formed supergroup from members of bands who remain massively influential but confusingly under appreciated. Not that the lack of recognition on a wider scale seems to have deterred any of them. Four Pieces From Candyland has the band firing on all cylinders, crafting four very strong tracks (if you get the vinyl edition, otherwise three very strong tracks) to kick things off. While the trio of tracks ends on a stronger note than the quartet, the vinyl-only track “Like A Leaf in the Wind” slows things down and showcases the bands range by delving into more traditional songwriting territory which only expands on their promise. “Santa Maria”, “Jesus and Johnny Cash”, and “You Don’t Know” are all strong classic rock and roll numbers that will have you excited for the full-length.
