Erika Spring offers five gorgeously lush and atmospheric electro-pop tunes on her solo debut, all the while maintaining her flirtatious vocal presence. There’s not a dull moment to be had on EP, and whenever any of the given songs begin to feel like they might succumb to repetition, it’s expertly diverted by a new element that showcases Spring’s compositional strength. These are airy songs that work on a multi-faceted level. EP excels in modes as varied as a headphone experience, a dancehall banger, an introspective dream-pop piece, and universally agreeable background music (a much higher compliment than you might think). It glides by and it rewards close listens and begs return visits. This is an incredibly strong start for Erika Spring, and it’ll be fascinating to see if she can sustain this level of excellence over a full-length.
