On their self-titled full-lenth debut, Conveyor start things off on the right foot with “Woolgatherer”, which serves as a perfect introduction for the band’s eccentricities and quirks. This is art-pop with the emphasis placed much more heavily on the pop. The high standard they set with that song isn’t diminished in the slightest by any of the ensuing songs. Where Conveyor falters is in its sequencing that allows for a hefty lull in the record’s mid-section and a tendency to ever-so-slightly overplay certain elements. A few tracks seem like they may be straying into dull territories at certain points, only to be salvaged by explosive arrangements and incredible ideas; “Right Sleep” is a great example of this. By the time “Anne” closes Conveyor out, you’ll have undoubtedly noticed some repetition but I’d be willing to bet you’ll be won over enough by the band’s personality to simply not care.
