Fresh off of last month’s excellent “We No Who U R”, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds premiere another promising cut from Push the Sky Away, their forthcoming 15th full-length. Titled “Jubilee Street”, this one’s got a silky arpeggio pattern, a quietly powerful vocal performance by the post-punk frontman, and a stirring string buildup towards the end of its six-and-a-half minutes. Plus, who besides Cave could sing “I’ve got a foetus on a leash” and make it sound gripping?
As one YouTube commenter puts it, “You’re supposed to get increasingly more shit as you age. Didn’t Mr. Cave and his Bad Seeds get the memo?” Even without longtime collaborator Mick Harvey, Cave is defiant.
Push the Sky Away will be released February 19th via Bad Seed Ltd. Stream “Jubilee Street” below with the official lyric sheet.
