“Oh, the wide Missouri!” Scott Walker sings, kicking off his collaborative album with the American drone metal overlords behind Sunn O))), Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson. Walker sounds better than he’s sounded in years, his famed (and now aged) baritone croon reaching near operatic heights. Of course, this being a collaboration between Walker and Sunn O))), things get increasingly weirder from there. From Guns N’ Roses-indebted lead guitar licks to the sound of a cracking bullwhip, “Brando” is a predictably iconoclastic tune from these sonic innovators.
Below you can watch a short film made to accompany “Brando”, directed by Gisèle Vienne.
