The nearly week-long 2014 CBGB Music and Film Festival culminated with a free outdoor concert in Times Square. Numerous acts were scheduled to play (during the hours Broadway musicals weren’t performing) including Surfer Blood, We Are Scientists, Midnight Mob, Ex-Cops, Face the King, Cheeky Parade, an all-star from from the School of Rock and in the final half, Robert DeLong, DEVO and Jane’s Addiction. Jane’s Addition lead singer Perry Farrell’s took to surfing the crowd a day after the band played the ICON Award ceremony for the CBGB Fest. Go-go dancers joined the band during the final songs, notably swinging from the rafters by their skin, and an excited Farrell repeatedly asked about oral sex just after the final song. Farrell wanted to play, and to play on, but the show was done at 7:30 to his and to the audience’s chagrin. It was one wild party though and it was free so hopefully no one complained.
