The Indelicates Release Virtual Reality Single, “The Generation That Nobody Remembered”

British punk/folk/ cabaret duo the Indelicates have always been ahead of the curve when it comes to releasing music in the digital age, and "The Generation That Nobody Remembered" is no exception.

After crowdfunding an album two years before Kickstarter made their UK debut and creating something like a proto-Bandcamp for their label Corporate Records, the Indelicates are now releasing what is possibly the first ever virtual reality single for a song entitled “The Generation That Nobody Remembered”. The free download was designed for use with the Oculus Rift head-set, but a 2d version also exists, along with a simple name-your-price MP3 of the song.

Progressive marketing aside, the song deserves repeat plays in its own right, with the sort of vital generational commentary that so many current bands fail to provide.

The line “I can ice you a cupcake with the cover of Howl” alone speaks volumes about the popular predilection for twee, Etsyfied wares over actual art. Musically, the song is lush and orchestral, a sign of ongoing evolution from the Indelicates’ subversive indie-pop beginnings.

“The Generation That Nobody Remembered” is the lead single from the Indelicates’ upcoming fifth full length, Elevator Music. A release date has yet to be announced.
