With an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Hailee Steinfeld, Hilary Swank, John Lithgow, and James Spader, Tommy Lee Jones’ third film as a director, The Homesman, is about to see its home video release. The film, which some have called a feminist western, tells the tale of three women wishing to escape pioneer life.
To get a glimpse at the inner workings of the film, below you can watch a behind-the-scenes video with Miranda Otto and Grace Gummer, who explain some thoughts they had going into the making of the film. Otto is memorable for making a big splash in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy; Gummer, the daughter of Meryl Streep, just finished a run as one of the stronger characters on Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom.
The Homesman is out on DVD and Blu-ray on 17 February.
