The spirit of the early ’90s is alive and well with the London group False-Heads; specifically, the spirit of grunge. Taking a leaflet out of the book Nirvana perfected with LPs like Bleach and In Utero, “TwentyNothing”, a tune from the group’s upcoming EP Wear and Tear, is a high-energy number that’s given an additional dose of creativity in its music video, which you can view exclusively below. If you’re wondering why the drummer seems to be in absentia… well, there’s a story behind that.
Guitarist and vocalist Luke Griffiths tells PopMatters about the video, “I had an idea involving lots of puppets, mannequins and congregations of people behind us playing or us playing to those sort of things as I thought the song suited that sort of imagery. Our drummer literally quit the band the night before so Jake and I did it ourselves and took the dead looking dummy thing I’d got hold of and used it as a drummer, so the dummy kinda took on a few different meanings and connotations to what I had in mind originally. It is quite a digital video but I think the imagery works perfectly with the track. Matt of Matthew Bolton videography did a great job with it, we had some sick ideas with smoke involved but it set the fire alarm off so we couldn’t pull them off, but I love the video regardless so enjoy!.”
