Malibu born-and-raised electropop singer-songwriter Colette Carr is set to release her latest EP Static. Start., the first of several EPs that will be compiled into an album to be released later this year. The seductive, empowering first single “Static” comes out today, and we’re pleased to premiere the new lyric video for the track today.
“‘Static’ is about letting go,” Carr tells PopMatters. “Stress, due dates, urgency, notifications, I was starting to feel like all my brain consisted of was wi-fi and radiation. I wrote the song when I was fed up. I wanted to hide my phone, bury it underground, take a bath, go dancing, hike, have some red wine, and stop thinking. It’s a solid reminder to let go, in fact the whole EP is really about letting go, vulnerability being the common thread. The goal was to be as raw as I could stomach, and hopefully it helps someone somewhere overcome the terrifying act of letting their walls down.”
Static. Start. is out now. Purchase it at iTunes.
