The Waifs – “Black Dirt Track” (video) (premiere)

The sisters in the Waifs revisit their past in the video for their new song.

Australian folk rock band the Waifs are set to release their eighth album Beautiful You this week, and just in time they’ve put together a great little lo-fi video for the song “Black Dirt Track”. Shot by singer/guitarist Vikki Thorn in the Western Australia beach town she and her sister (and bandmate) Donna Simpson spent a lot of time at as kids, both the track and video hold deep personal meaning for the two women.

“I wanted to capture the feeling of freedom and innocence we had growing up this place & and the connection we have to it,” Thorn says. “This little track that leads from the forest to the beach, where my father walked as a child, where my sisters and I played and now where our own children enjoy the magic & beauty of that special place.”

Beautiful You is out now.
