Andrew David King
Andrew David King lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he studies English and Philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley. He has received the F. C. S. Schiller Prize in Philosophy from the university, and has also been recognized by DeSales University, Rider University, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, and a variety of other institutions. In addition, he has studied writing in programs at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the University of Iowa. As a journalist, his articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, The Writer's Way (a textbook for California State University, Chico), Valley Humanities Review at Lebanon Valley College, Oakland Tribune, Contra Costa Times, The Daily Californian and the Berkeley Daily Planet. His creative work has also received recognition, including the Joan Lee Yang Prize in Poetry from UC Berkeley. In 2011, King's manuscript-in-progress of poetry earned Honorable Mention in the Cathlamet Prize for Poetry from Ravenna Press and Honorable Mention from the National Federation of State Poetry Societies's University Level Awards.
