My novel The West House will be published in October of this year, and I have written two scholarly books as well. The most recent of these books, a study of noir film and fiction titled America Is Elsewhere, received an Edgar Award. I have also written popular articles about comics, the most recent of which was a piece about the Black Panther ("The Black Panther's Pulp Epic") published in PopMatters. In addition to my writing, I teach literature and cinema studies at American University in Washington, DC.
