Phil is a Film Studies lecturer and film writer. He completed his Masters in Media in 2011, writing his dissertation about gender in contemporary horror films. His additional Masters was in Film (2016), writing a dissertation about film festivals and independent filmmaking. He writes reviews for CinemaCatharsis.com, the Berlin Film Journal and the PopMeC Research blog. He is currently contributing a chapter about The Descent for a forthcoming horror film book.
