“Ocean of Emptiness”, the third cut off Echospace’s debut The Coldest Season, would double fittingly as the title of this pretentious and pitiable waste of an album. Perhaps Industrial Flatulence or Dead Air would also work? Both are bitingly apropos. Going down this made-up list, how about Music Inspired By a Stale Gust of Wind or Oxygen as Interpreted By Analog-Equipped Electronic? Both approximate its vaporous feel. Even the actual title hints at the album’s frigid, near static movements and its crucial dearth of color, warmth, and human touches. Bluntly stated, over the course of its 79 minutes, The Coldest Season exudes the soul of a machine.
