Classic vibes of 1970s-era cruising have us reeling this morning. “Waiting on You”, the latest by New Orleans-based collaboration Matt Surfin’ & Friends, reveals a groove borne from feeling good all the time in an oft-forgotten time. Taking cues from the Doobie Brothers as well as indie contemporaries, Matt Surfin’ is an artist whose homework has clearly been done, leaving only application on a well-lit stage overlooking a wide dance floor.
The band’s self-titled album is out 17 May via Community/Muscle Beach.
