The Chordaes – “What Do You Want From Me” (video) (premiere)

Soaring, psychedelic, and dark indie rock encompassing self-realization and empowerment.

New York’s the Chordaes are becoming quite the hot commodity in their respective circuit. Their psychedelic imagery and flair are indicative of the classic rock and power pop anthems from another time, and that disposition translates seamlessly into their musical output.

The Chordaes are gearing up to release their latest EP, In Itinere, on 20 October. Preceding its release, they have teamed up with director Phil Harder (Prince, Matchbox Twenty, the Afghan Whigs) to release a music video for the EP’s lead single, “What Do You Want From Me”.

Showcasing a stunning self-realization by off-kilter means, the tune and its accompanying video encapsulate the anthemic psych-rock that the band lives by.

Frontman and guitarist Leo Sawikin says, “The video depicts a girl taking some sort of psychedelic substance while she’s out with her boyfriend. Over the course of the video, she starts to realize that the guy isn’t interested in anything that she wants and is only concerned with himself. Through her visions and the song, she comes to the conclusion that she has no room to satisfy a sociopath while also satisfying herself.”
