The Dawn Drapes Deliver Power Pop Perfection With “Oxygen” (premiere)

Philadelphia indie rockers the Dawn Drapes‘ latest video, “Oxygen” provides us with a quick glimpse into the soulful energy, jangling guitars and refined vocal harmonies that help define the group’s sounds. At times reminiscent of the Jayhawks at their most glorious, the tune is a brief but distinct power pop statement that proves instantaneously infectious. Its brevity proves one of its greatest attributes as the listener finds themselves hitting the repeat button within seconds of the final note’s fade.

The band say, “We wanted a little more levity with this video because of the upbeat rhythm and because the length of the song is kind of ‘Hello, Goodbye’ Our videographer Eric from the Common Union did such a great job of capturing the haziness of the song with all this found footage and it really fits well. I think you can draw meaning from the footage and the lyrics from a lot of different perspectives, which is always something I’ve liked about music and music videos in particular.”
