The Nervous Exits: Get Out

The Nervous Exits
Get Out
Super Secret

The Nervous Exits are a band on Myspace.com. Can you imagine? A band on Myspace.com! Unbelievable! Fortunately they tend to make you want to go stand in your garage and crank these little nuggets beginning with the rowdy, garage-rock, retro sizzle of “It’s a Flash”. Think of bands like The Hives and The Blue Van and you get the gist of their boogie musical bible. “Aging Rerun” might sound like it was found in someone’s closet, but it still works quite well with its jangle-y feeling as lead singer John Yaklin delivers the goods. Unfortunately, the squeaky “Annabel” works on some but not all levels but things are all well again with the hellish “Can’t Sit Tight” which makes one sit very un-tight. The Nervous Exits nail “Two Headed Monster”, sounding like a cross between The Mooney Suzuki and an early Eric Burdon while “Last Time Around” morphs into some gospel-like rave up minus the nice robes. The group wraps things up with another solid rocker entitled “Long Road Home”. It appears they made their mark earlier this year in Austin and this album is a damn good reason why.
