The Sound of Ghosts was initially comprised of spouses James and Anna Orbison alongside guitarist Ernesto Rivas. Since their founding in 2014, the LA-based folk-rockers have expanded their sound considerably with the contributions of drummer Jon Sarna and multi-instrumentalist Phoebe Silva.
Altogether, the Americana group represents a breakneck melding of rock, folk, bluegrass and country influences. Their sound is complete with a taste for musical theatre and classic rock from some of their members, offering an unexpected fire to the acoustic ensemble.
Their latest single, “Train to Nowhere”, is a strong example of all that they’re abound. Soaring vocals are met by an electrifying instrumentation courtesy of a melding of guitar, drums, bass, fiddle, and even trumpet. Thematically, the song represents a lust for adventure and an escape from the normal routine.
The Sound of Ghosts’ upcoming album, Delivery and Departure, is due out this autumn.
