From the first moment that he picked up his guitar, Trae Sheehan has been a bonafide roadster. A true-to-life modern troubadour, the West Virginian artist’s Postcards From the Country is a testament to that lifestyle. Written on the road, the album was recorded fresh from off of a recent tour. While Sheehan has to cool his freewheeling jets for a while in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the singer-songwriter is now able to stew on and relish in his intimate forthcoming release.
The album is due out on 18 September on Half Moon. Today, Sheehan premieres the music video for its debut single, “To Be Alone”, with PopMatters. The sweet, plaintive folk song is a perfect encapsulation of the warm, personal feeling that the overall album conveys. Filmed by Misty Sheehan, its music video is fittingly bittersweet and reflective. Sheehan says, “This is a love song at its core. A slightly twisted one, but a love song nonetheless. We never want the one person we love more than anything to be alone.”
